Or more recent, from a city loom in the seat of NW Persian Azerbaijan province which has a somewhat interrupted tradition of carpet weaving reaching back at least to the 16th century.
A tiny concave eggshell central square organizes the well-spaced curled arabesque, leaf and palmette design on the peachy shrimp field. Creamy ivory main border with leaves sand palmettes violating the minors. This innovation began in Kerman i8n the 1930’s and has spread to many urban workshops across Iran. Good condition.
