Lots and lots of cloud bands snake about the brisk red field of this well-woven central Persian city carpet. A small cream octogramme centres the motion and navy split arabesque strapwork and escutcheons give a structure to the field. Navy border with botehs and palmettes. Cotton foundation. Narrow plain red outermost frame. Restrained rendition of a 17th century pattern. Short and firm pile.
