This all ivory, interwar city carpet shows a Zil-i-Sultan design of flower-filled vases and paired birds in both field and border. Offset rows in the field. Tilted vases make the border corners turn elegantly. Short pile of excellent wool. Cotton foundation. Attractive version of the Zil-i-Sultan (“Shadow of the Sultan”) pattern which first appeared in the later 19th century. Finely woven by a very professional workshop.
