This solidly woven Kurdish city scatter shows an allover pattern centred by a rosette, wih curving stems, barbed sickle leaves and spiky palmettes, all on the rich navy ground. Echoes of the “American Sarouk” pattern. Red border with in-and-out palmettes and tilted iris-like flowers. Probably from the early 1920’s. A serious, long-wearing rug.
