In the “Bakshaiesh” semi-Caucasian style of the 1880’s, this room size Kazak-looking carpet shows a light blue field developing floral corner triangles, setting off the empty madder red sub-field with a simplified, bold three diamond pole medallion. Ecru main border with serrated hexagonal, linked palmettes. Cotton foundation, moderate weave. Natural dyes, handspun materials. Areas of very light wear. Powerful NW Persian rustic carpet. Good condition for the age and use.
